Where on earth does this business name come from?

Updated: Aug 28, 2021

When I was thinking of a name for my practice, I thought about the message I wanted to convey to my potential clients, and I thought about the idea of resilience. Resilience is the ability to withstand what life throws at you. What are the most resilient? Those pesky weeds that grow through cracks in driveways, sidewalks, and patios. They are tenacious things. So what makes a wildflower into a weed? When it's growing where it's not wanted.

Sometimes WE are the weed. We may be in an environment where we just don't fit. We struggle to burst through the constraints of our surroundings. Maybe we are the "black sheep" of the family. Maybe we have a hard time fitting in with our peers. Maybe we are in a job that we just can't make work.

Sometimes, our emotions are the weeds. Anxiety, sadness, grief, anger...these feel like they just don't fit. But given space, like an open field, and acceptance, like water and healthy soil, these emotions can live out their life cycle without struggle.

Seeing wildflowers growing on the side of the highway has always made me smile. Likewise, seeing all living beings flourish makes me smile. We all have the potential to flourish. Right now you may be feeling like a weed. Let's work toward more of how to cultivate ease and openness, so you're feeling more like a wildflower.
